Laura Gallagher and Bryony Page have been named as Great Britain’s trampoline gymnasts for the Tokyo 2020.
Gallagher, who will be making her Olympic debut in the Japanese capital, describes her selection as “an absolute dream”.
“It feels quite surreal to have been selected for the Olympic Games, after so many years of hard work and perseverance, and so many people involved in helping me to get to this point in my journey over so many years,” Gallagher said.
“I do feel really, really proud to be representing Team GB, and I can’t wait to get out there and give everything I’ve got and do myself and everyone on this journey with me proud.
“I’m aiming to enjoy every moment of this whole experience, it’s an absolute dream.”
Page, who made history at Rio 2016 by becoming the first British trampolinist to win an Olympic medal, joins Gallagher on the plane to Tokyo and is hoping to make it back-to-back Olympic medals.
Page said: “I’m excited, honoured and proud to have been selected for Team GB. It’s been a five-year journey since Rio and I’ve had so much support from the team around me to get through that period so to now make it to my second Games feels extra special.
“After such an amazing experience at Rio I’m just looking forward to being at a Games environment again, Team GB make you feel so special, and I can’t wait to compete again”
In other news, Lea Labrousse of France, the silver medallist at the 2020 European Championships in Sochi, and team-mate Allan Morante have secured spots at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
