In April 1977, George Nissen organized a group of U.S. gymnasts and trampolinists to go to Egypt for exhibitions and clinics. One of the highlights of the tour was the day spent bouncing on trampolines at the base of the pyramids. The competition was presented by the Nissen Trampoline Co., Ltd., in conjunction with the British Amateur Gymnastic Association. Forty-one athletes participated representing twelve countries. The rules required an optional ten bounce routine. Participants competed in direct man-to-man competition with winners advancing to the next round.
