June 16, 2010: Irina Kundius (RUS) and Oleg Talsky (RUS) won the gold medals of the junior competition of the 46th Nissen Cup held in parallel to the World Cup in Davos, Switzerland, on June 11-12, 2010. The winners in synchronized trampoline were Ginga Munetomo-Takahiko Kato (JPN) in the men's and Chisato Doihata-Miyu Yoshimura (JPN) in the women's. Detailed results added.

In addition to the World Cup - senior event, the 46th Nissen Cup featured its traditional junior competition.  The event was held in Davos, Switzerland, on June 11-12, 2010.  The junior competition starred some of the top junior trampolinists in the world.  The junior competition saw entries from Russia, Japan, Germany, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, and Austria.

In the men's junior competition, 2005 World Age Group Competition (WAGC) gold medalist (11-12 age group) Oleg Talsky (RUS) captured the gold medal with a very impressive routine.  Competing second in the final after average preliminaries, Talsky stepped up his difficulty to a 16.40 pt degree of difficulty.  Talsky performed his routine with nice execution, good height, despite a little traveling.  However, in the end, Talsky really made the difference over his rivals thanks to his superior degree of difficulty, which gave him a more than 1.50 pt advantage over his rivals.  Overall, Talsky, who had placed 5th of the 2008 edition of the Nissen Cup junior competition, scored 38.60 pts to win the gold medal.  By winning this year's edition, Talsky follows the steps of Mikhail Melnik (RUS), who won the 2008 edition ahead of Nikita Fedorenko (RUS).

Like two years ago, Russia swept the top 2 of the men's individual competition of the Nissen Cup junior competition, this time thanks to Andrei Yudin (RUS).  Competing right after Talsky, Yudin delivered a very strong routine with nice execution.  Yudin earned a score of 37.60 pts (14.50 pt tariff).  He barely edged 2010 European Junior Championship bronze medalist Oliver Amann (GER).  Amann, who was competing last in the final after dominating the preliminaries, scored 37.50 pts, just 0.10 pts off YudinAmann also relied on neat execution and solid difficulty (14.40 pt degree of difficulty).  Russia barely miss the perfect sweep of all three medals as Andrei Gornyak (RUS) placed 4th with 37.20 pts, just 0.30 pts off AmannGornyak performed a well-mastered routine with outstanding execution as his strategy was to compete a lower degree of difficulty (13.70 pts).

The talented Artur Zakrzewski (POL) followed in 5th place with 36.20 pts (14.80 pt degree of difficulty), despite some wide variations in his execution marks.  Tobias Herrmann (SUI) placed 6th with 32.20 pts.  The 7th place of the final went to Takahiko Kato (JPN), the gold medalist from the 2007 WAGC (13-14 age group) and silver medalist from the 2009 WAGC (15-16 age group).  Kato had performed very well in the preliminaries where he took the 2nd place behind Amann.  However, he failed to resist the pressure in the final and was unable to complete his routine.  Angel Hernandez (ESP), the gold medalist from the 2009 WAGC (13-14 age group) and 2007 WAGC (11-12 age group) suffered a fate similar to Kato's.  Hernandez had placed 3rd in the preliminaries with a score equal to Kato's, but he crashed in the final after his first skill. Hernandez placed 8th, down two spots from the 2008 Nissen Cup junior competition.  Filip Tratwal (POL - 12th), Alexei Yaschenko (RUS - 20th), who had a good second routine (36.80 pts with a 14.80 pt tariff) but crashed in the first routine, and Ginga Munetomo (JPN - 22nd) were among the most notable trampolinists to miss the final.

In the women's individual junior competition, 2010 European Junior Champion Irina Kundius (RUS) prevailed with ease.  Kundius scored 36.40 pts thanks to a brilliant performance.  Competing third to last in the final, Kundius relied on neat execution and superior diffculty (12.80 pt tariff) to create a significant margin over her rivals.  In the end, she won with a 2.00 pt margin over her rivals.  Miyu Yoshimura (JPN - 34.60 pts with an 11.40 pt tariff) and Chisato Doihata (JPN - 34.50 pts) helped Japan to a silver-bronze medal combo.  Doihata had the lead after the preliminaries, but could not hold on to it in the final due to her relative lack of difficulty (10.70 pts) compared to the degree of difficulty offered by Kundius or Yoshimura.

Fanny Chilo (SUI) placed 4th with a solid performance (33.50 pts with an 11.50 pt tariff), ahead of Katerina Solanska (CZE - 32.80 pts) and Sylvie Wirth (SUI - 32.50 pts), who was in 3rd place before the final.  Leonie Adam (GER - 32.40 pts) came in 7th place, followed by Simone Scherer (SUI), who failed to complete her routine.  2008 European Junior Championship silver medalist and 2007 WAGC winner (13-14 age group) Nadezhda Glebova (RUS), who took the silver medal behind Samantha Sendel (CAN) two years ago in Arosa, missed the final this time as she struggled in both routine.  She finished in 15th place, just ahead of Yulia Vladimirchuk (RUS), the 2007 WAGC silver medalist (11-12 age group), who failed to complete her optional.

In men's synchronized trampoline, Ginga Munetomo-Takahiko Kato (JPN - 44.70 pts with a 12.70 pt tariff) claimed the gold medal ahead of Georgi Iliev-Aleksandar Angelov (BUL - 43.70 pts) and Artur Zakrzewski-Filip Tratwal (POL - 42.50 pts).  In the women's, the trio of medalists was made out of Chisato Doihata-Miyu Yoshimura (JPN - 44.30 pts), Yulia Vladimirchuk-Irina Kundius (RUS - 41.60 pts) and Michaela Karbanova-Katerina Solanska (CZE).
