A total of five countries will compete at the Junior Pan American Championships in trampoline gymnastics to be held in Daytona Beach, United States, on March 25-27, 2010. This competition will be a qualifying event for the 1st Youth Olympic Games to be held in Singapore on August 14-26, 2010. This 2010 Junior Pan American Championship event will take place at the Event Hall of the Daytona Beach Ocean Center, Daytona Beach, Florida.
A total of 12 girls and 10 boys will compete in this Junior Pan American Championship. The event is open to gymnasts born in 1993 or 1994.
Only one male and one athlete trampolinists per country can qualify for the Youth Olympic Games. Two places per gender will be granted (one per country after the preliminaries). The next two countries will be nominatd as reserve for the Youth Olympic Games.
Some of the trampolinists to compete in Daytona Beach in the women's include Savannah Vinsant (USA), 17, who won the 2009 World Age Group Competition (WAGC) in St Petersburg, Russia, Mariah Madigan (CAN), 17, who claimed the silver medal at the 2009 WAGC, and Daienne Cardoso de Lima (BRA), 17, who placed 4th at the 2009 WAGC. In the men's, the field will feature Jeffrey Gluckstein (USA), 17, who came in 7th at the 2009 WAGC, Curtis Gerein (CAN), 17, 21st at the 2009 WAGC, and Oswaldo Prieto Angel (MEX), 17, who placed 32nd at the same event.
In parallel to this important qualifying event, the competitionin Daytona Beach will feature the Senior Pan American Championships in all trampoline gymnastics disciplines (trampoline, tumbling, double mini-trampoline), as well as the Pan American Club Age Group Championships. More than 260 athletes from 6 countries will compete in the various competitions.
