March 13, 2007: British international Simon Milnes and Lisa Blackburn retained their British Universities Sports Association (BUSA) Champion titles at the BUSA National Final held at the University of Surrey on March 11, 2007.

The British Universities Sports Association (BUSA) held its annual National Final on March 11, 2007, on the campus of the University of Surrey.  The campus is located on Stage Hill in Guildford, Surrey, adjacent to the Guildford cathedral.

In the men's elite competition, British Champion Simon Milnes (University of Manchester) successfully defended his BUSA national title with a score of 101.00 pts.  Milnes competed a 15.80 pt routine in the preliminaries (obtaining a score of 37.50 pts for his optional), before cruising to victory in the final (36.80 pts with a 14.40 pt tariff).  It was the third BUSA Champion title for Milnes after winning in 2005 and 2006.  British international Mark Alexander had won the three preceding editions of the event.

Phil Dodson (University of Hertfordshire), who was silver medalist in 2005 and a bronze medalist in 2006, won the silver medal this year with 93.10 pts, competing a very reduced difficulty in the final.  Mark Samuals took the bronze medal with 87.10 pts.

In the women's elite competition, Lisa Blackburn (University of Manchester) also retained her title.  Blackburn finished with a score of 89.40 pts (10.20 pt tariff).  The title had been previously held by Japanese international Hiroi Tokuma (2004, 2005), and British internationals Kirsten Lawton (2002 and 2003) and Claire Wright (2000 and 2001).  Hannah Frost (University of Bournemouth) took the silver medal of this 2007 edition with 88.20 pts, followed by Asha Bayliss (University of Bath - 86.10 pts).
