    Shunsuke Nagasaki wins the 2006 Japanese Collegiate Championship

September 2, 2006: Japanese international Shunsuke Nagasaki won the 41st Japanese Collegiate Championship held in Osaka on August 25-27, 2006.

 

Osaka hosted the 41st Japanese Collegiate Championship on August 25-27, 2006.  Japenese students from Universities all over the country competed.

In the absence of defending champion Yasuhiro Ueyama and last year's bronze medalist Tetsuya Sotomura, who were in Europe competing at the Savognin and Salzgitter World Cups, Shunsuke Nagasaki prevailed.  The young Japanese international, 19, won with 107.80 pts thanks to a 15.10 pt routine that scored 38.80 pts in the final. 

Manabu Yamaguchi took the silver medal like he did last year.  Yamaguchi obtained a score of 106.30 pts, performing the best routine of the final with 39.10 pts (15.10 pt tariff).  Hideyasu Ishikawa took the bronze medal of this 2006 Collegiate Championship with 100.20 pts, performing a 14.80 pt tariff in the final for a score of 38.10 pts. 

In the women's, 2006 Indo-Pacific Champion Naomi Nishioka won the competition with 93.60 pts (09.60 pt tariff).  She edged Kiyouko Nakagawa, who took the silver medal with 93.20 pts.  Naoko Nisida was 3rd with 91.50 pts.
