Steven Gluckstein (USA)
April 30, 2006: Ghent, Belgium, hosted the international Partena Cup of Flanders in parallel to the World Cup competition. Steven Gluckstein (USA) and Emilia Zawadska (POL) won the junior trampoline events. Michael Scott-Beaulieu (GBR) and Julie Warnock (CAN) won the senior DMT events.

In parallel to the World Cup competition, Ghent, Belgium, hosted on April 29-30, 2006, the international Partena Cup of Flanders.  530 athletes from 17 countries competed in trampoline, tumbling, and double mini-trampoline.  The competition included a senior double mini-trampoline competition.  Another interest of the competition is that it features many of the potential medal contenders for the European Youth Championships to be held in three weeks in Metz, France.

The men's junior trampoline event was of a very high level as three of the most promising trampolinists fought for the gold medal.  Steven Gluckstein (USA) emerged as the winner with 38.20 pts (14.40 pt tariff).  Gluckstein, who is coached by former World Champion Tatiana Kovaleva (RUS) in New Jersey, is having a very successful year so far with gold medals at the Pacific Alliance Championship, the International Grenzland Cup, the Holiday Cup, and the Winter Classic.  Gluckstein also won the junior DMT event in Ghent.  Gluckstein edged two trampolinists who will contend for medals at the upcoming European Youth Championships: Christopher Schuepferling (GER) and Tom Lewis (GBR).  Schuepferling took the silver medal in Ghent with 37.70 pts (14.40 pts) while Tom Lewis had to settle for the bronze (37.30 pts with a 14.50 pt tariff).  Lewis was the winner of the 2005 International Age Group Competition in Eindhoven (NED).  Phil Barbaro (CAN) took the 4th place with 36.30 pts.  The trampoline boys' event was won by Angel Hernandez (ESP) with 33.50 pts.

In the women's junior event, Emilia Zawadska (POL) obtained the same 34.30 pt score as Lara Hueninghake (GER), but left Ghent with a gold medal around her neck as her difficulty mark was lower than HueninghakeZita Frydrychova (CZE) took the bronze medal with 33.40 pts, barely edging Carina Baumgaertner (GER).  Cara Jamieson (GBR), Nani Vercruyssen (USA), Batanay Kolcu (BEL), and Yasmin Gumbs (GBR) followed.  Gumbs and Vercruyssen occupied the top two spots of the preliminaries but were not as successful as hoped in the final.  The trampoline girls' event was won by Paula Ferro (ESP).

The youth synchro competitions were won by Matteo Campus and Thomas Lacombe (FRA) and the German pair Carina Baumgaertner - Alexandra Kohler

The senior men's DMT competition was dominated by British Internationals Michael Scott-Beaulieu (pictured on the right) and Philip Dodson, who edged Hawaiian Matt Moniz (USA).  The women's competition was top notch as Julie Warnock (CAN), edged Shelley Klochan (USA) and Jane Bickerstaffe (CAN).

The tumbling youth competitions were won by Peter Mewse (GBR) and Dacyn Caudell (USA).
