In the men's tumbling
event, World Champion Wang
Jiexu
(CHN
- pictured on the right) reaffirmed the superiority he
displayed at the 2005 World Championships.
Wang won his first World Cup event. The
2005 World Championships were the first major international
competition in which he competed. In Ghent, he tied the
world record of difficulty with 13.60 pts in his first pass,
which went as follows: round off, full in full out lay, tempo,
flip flap, full in full out lay and with a full in full out
tuck at the end. His first routine scored 38.90 pts, more
than 2.00 pts better than any of fhis rivals. His 2nd
routine was a round off, full in back lay, tempo, flip flap,
full in back lay, tempo, tempo, full in full out, nicely
landed.

(POL - pictured on the left) took the silver medal. He
started his first pass with barani, tempo, flip flap, full in
full out lay, tempo, tempo, tempo, full in full out lay well
landed. His 2nd routine was round off, double back lay,
tempo, flip flap, full in back lay, tempo, tempo, full in full
out tuck, superbly executed and well landed.
Frenchman

Tarin
competed a round off, flip flap, full in back out lay, tempo,
tempo, tempo, tempo, flip flap, miller lay, perfectly executed
and landed as a first pass. His 2nd pass was a round off,
double back lay, tempo, tempo, flip flap, double back lay,
tempo, tempo, flip flap full in full out well landed.
Alexei Batienko (RUS) took the 4th
place. His first pass went with a round off, double back
lay, tempo, flip flap, double back lay, tempo, tempo, double
back lay with impressive speed.
Denis
Vachon (CAN) landed his first pass with an lack of
rotation on his final full in half out lay and rolled on his
back.
In the women's
tumbling event, Anna
Korobeynikova
(RUS - pictured on the left) was in a class of her own.
She won with a more than 5.00 pt margin. Her first pass
was round off, tempo, double back lay, tempo, tempo, tempo,
tempo, flip flap, full in full out that was stabilized with a
little step backwards. Her speed was very
impressive. Her 2nd pass was round off, flip flap, full
in back lay, tempo, tempo, tempo, tempo, flip flap, full in
back pike with impressive execution and speed.
Zoe
McLean
(GBR) obtained the silver medal thanks to a well executed first
pass with a double back lay into a full in back pike. Her
2nd pass was powerful and fast, concluding with a full in back
lay. She obtained 63.90 pts. Her teammate and World
bronze medalist Samantha Palmer (GBR) also
performed a double back lay into a full in back pike in her
first pass. She was then in 2nd place.
Unfortunately, she completely lost her speed in the middle of
her 2nd pass due to a full in back. She concluded her
routine with a simple back somersault, which relegated her to
the 4th place.
Emily
Smith's
(CAN) first pass was double back lay in the middle into a full
in back pike. She took the 3rd place thanks to a second
pass that was concluded with a full in back lay.
Kyla Phillps (RSA) also went on with a series
of tempo concluded by a double back lay with good landing for
her first pass. She finished 6th. Delphine
Francois (FRA) started her first pass with barani,
full, tempo, tempo, tempo, tempo, flip flap, full in full out
tuck well landed. Her 2nd pass was round off,
tempo, flip flap, double back lay, tempo, tempo, tempo, flip
flap, and double back tuck. She took the 5th place with
62.30 pts.

Conde's (POR) first pass included a double back lay
into a double back pike.
