April 29, 2006: Today is the day of the finals at the World Cup in Ghent. Updates will be provided throughout the day by AcrobaticSports.com's reporters Damien Dorna and Michel Bontemps. 20th World Cup win for Irina Karavaeva and Gold Medal for Yasuhiro Ueyama (JPN).

UPDATE 5:

We expect to put all the videos of the competition online by Monday. Please fin detailed results of the finals attached below.

UPDATE 4:

There is only one final left, the men's synchronized trampoline.

In the women's, Irina Karavaeva (RUS) won her 20th World Cup gold medal, an even more impressive total if you take into account that no other female trampolinist ever won more than 6.  Olympic Champion Anna Dogonadze (GER) took the silver medal whereas Karen Cockburn (CAN) grabbed the bronze medal despite competing first.

In the men's, Yasuhiro Ueyama (JPN) won the second World Cup of his career with a beautiful routine once again.  Ueyama had won the Sofia World Cup in June 2005.  Flavio Cannone (ITA) took the silver medal.  It is the second time of his career that he wins a World Cup medal after the silver he took in Krasnodar last year.

In the women's synchro competition, Jaime Moore and Claire Wright (GBR), who were already in the lead after the preliminaries, won with a very nice performance.

In tumbling, World Champions Wang Jiexu (CHN) and Anna Korobeynikova (RUS) triumphed.  Jozef Wadecki (POL) took the silver medal wheres Yves Tarin (FRA) snagged the bronze.

UPDATE 1:

After talking to several trampolinists, the Eurotramp trampolines are actually not instable at all.  They were in fact absolutely satisfactory and of great quality.

The organizers Paul and Mieke Standaert and their whole team are working very hard for the whole organization to be a success and should be thanked for all their efforts.
